The Journey

Welcome to Expat Steps.

I didn’t grow up dreaming of travel.

I grew up in poverty  the kind that teaches you not to dream at all.

When you’re poor, everything is monitored. Every mistake is big. Every hope is dangerous. You’re not planning vacations  you’re figuring out how to make dinner from what’s left.

I remember one day in a grocery store, I saw my reflection in a shiny apple. I asked my mother if we could buy it. She looked at me, kneeled down, and said:
“You need to grow up.”

That was the day I realized how different my life was.

We weren’t allowed to want things. Not food. Not rest. Not a future. And definitely not the idea of seeing the world.

In those years, traveling wasn’t just unlikely. It was impossible. A joke. Something I’d see on TV and immediately block out, because dreaming like that hurt too much.

But somewhere inside me, a question kept coming back:
What if there’s more than this?

That question followed me. Across borders. Through jobs that paid less than minimum wage. Through years of working just to survive. Through moments of being used, overlooked, and invisible.

And somehow, through all of it  I kept walking.

Today, I’m on a journey to visit every country on Earth.

Not for content. Not for followers.
But because I know what it’s like to feel like you’ll never leave the place you’re born.

Expat Steps is where I share that journey.

Through stories, through moments that don’t trend, through videos on YouTube that remind me how far I’ve come — and maybe remind someone else that it’s possible.
